Tigers' savage claws foil frustrated Saints

Tigers were out for revenge after Saints had humiliated them at The Gardens in the latter part of our Premiership winning season.

And the trip to Pooh Corner saw them gain that revenge.

I have to confess that I wasn’t there – I had a prior engagement travelling the leafy lanes of Rutland Morris dancing at the residents. I don’t dance I play a musical instrument...

I can’t bring myself to watch the recording so I have relied on other’s eye witness reports.

All in all it seems it was a frustrating day when Saints just couldn’t catch a chance and every  time they crossed the line the officiating panel reviewed it in depth until they found a reason not to award a try. There are opinions that say that the in depth review still didn’t come up with the right answer, but all bar one try was chalked off.

Tigers were tigers and took their chances better than Saints to take back the bragging rights. Things will be different when they have to come to our place!

Let’s just hope that those Saints who were injured during the course of the game, particularly Sam Graham, are back to health and fitness as soon as possible.

Kudos to the young tyros Henry Pollock and Archie McParland who kept plugging away in an arena closer to a bear pit than a tiger’s lair. There was a lot of internet acclaim for young Mr Pollock, who made his premiership debut in the same fixture last year when the outcome was much the same. Both of these promising young players are still only 19.

Upwards and onwards – Sale at home – Friday night lights with the extra lightshow. I believe we will be back up to our fighting best and will seal the win, I don’t expect that we will do it the easy way, however. The Blood pressure medication will be on hand!
