Fun in the sun with the BaaBaas

It was good to be back home! A new season. a new setting for the Saints Supporters Club and a team packed with youngsters for a run out on the carpet that is Franklins Gardens!

Have tent will travel!

After much discussion and deliberation the Supporters' Club is now the proud possessor of a gazebo and marketing paraphernalia.

We have moved our match day presence from the Rodber Bar to the village - just to the right of the stage.

Weather permitting we will be there at every match day to sign-up new members, take coach bookings and be a general social setting.

Come and find us at the next game!

On the pitch

Meanwhile on the pitch an exhibition of running rugby was taking place - unfortunately not much of it by a very young Saints team.

In the stands there was the annual game of match the name to the face for the new signings and the youngsters moving up from the academy!

As the fringe Australian and Japanese players had a training run out there were some promising appearances for the Saints youngsters.

Jake Garside (pic centre) put in a great shift proving to be an immense nuisance to the Aussies by dipping under the hand off and clinging on to men nearly twice his size. Although billed as a scrum half playing on the wing seemed to provide him with real freedom to be everywhere he needed to be! He received a thoroughly deserved standing ovation when he left the pitch.

Honourable mentions too to George Hendy who looked comfortable at full back alongside centre Toby Thame.

Archie McParland added a Mitchell-esque zip to the game when he came on.

So although the final score was quite lot to them and not much to us the promise and commitment out on the pitch from the youngsters in BG & G should give us hope for the future.
